The camera is gone :( I was so stupid that – rushing out of a cab in the middle of heavy traffic – I managed to forget it on the back seat. Shortly after, I contacted the taxi company, “they will see what they can do”, whatever that means (not like it’s their fault in any way). Unfortunately it was a cab flagged on the street and the dropoff wasn’t exactly at the hotel either, so unfortunately there isn’t much information to start investigating.

Fortunately I had a cheap (17-55/3.5-5.6 VR) kit lens on it, if it was anything more sophisticated, I would just jump off that high bridge across the bay. I’m more worried about loosing the capability of shooting than the camera itself (which is a valuable item regardless). Not only it’s the only camera I had with me, but it was full of images I was glad to have.

So, if it doesn’t magically appear out of nothing next couple of days, I will have to start looking for a replacement camera (probably a D300) and a wide lens as well (maybe the 12-24, if I need to buy one anyways, might just get a good one). Won’t be cheap, easily $3-4k, so it will have to wait..and until that, no images :(
